Today's news:
JamKazam came back. I wonder if they weren't just taking it down for a couple of days so they could build out added infrastructure -- they gotta know everybody wants to jam.I experimented a little with NinJam, using JamTaba2's OS/X version as my client, and a private server located in the UK. Its proprietor and I worked back and forth for a little while, and it seems as if synchronization is reasonable if not tight. I surely would not hesitate to use it for ambient collabs. Berlin-school, sequency stuff might be more of a challenge, or....it might just

A short post tonight, because I actually managed to spend much of the day learning and using some much-needed mastering skills, and time is at a premium.
First item: take a look at the first comment on the previous post -- I managed to create a self-contained iPad setup that will stream out whatever you play on it to a Shoutcast or Icecast- based Internet radio station like Radio Spiral or electro-music.com. Livestreaming requires a lot of computing power -- particularly if we are trying to do all the work with one computer. To give an example of pushing things to the limit, I’ve done a livestreaming show with a single Mac mini handling collaboration (via JamKazam), my audio interface, the OBS streaming software, and graphics generation (using G-Force). That is asking for trouble, and of course I got some. The solutions I found are the main topic of this post, but first let’s look at the possibility of prevention.
